This presentation will provide information helpful for all physical therapists regardless of specialization in assisting clients with common pelvic health issues that impact their lives. Anatomy of the pelvic floor and its interplay with the spine and hip will be presented. Simple management ideas will be discussed on managing constipation, delaying urgency to use the bathroom, and specific exercises and body mechanics recommendations to protect the pelvic floor especially when prolapse is present. Hands on assessment of a diastasis recti will also be provided with treatment ideas. This presentation will be delivered in a lecture format with a demonstration of the interplay of the pelvic floor muscles and the spine.
